A Youth Volunteer Program of Loaves & Fishes Hospitality House

Making a difference while making memories!
From community events like the Teddy Bear Festival to monthly volunteer projects at Loaves & Fishes, Giving Guppies shows that kindness is something you can learn—and share—at any age.

About Giving Guppies

Small Hands. Big Hearts. Lasting Impact.

Giving Guppies began with one simple idea from a sixth-grade student who wanted to make a difference in her community. Together with her mom, she approached Loaves & Fishes Hospitality House with a vision of bringing young people together to serve others.                                           From that conversation, Giving Guppies was born.

Today, Giving Guppies is a growing volunteer program for students in grades 3 through 8 who want to give back while learning the value of kindness, compassion, and community service.

The group meets once each month at Loaves & Fishes, where members work together on projects that help support our guests and brighten our facility.

Throughout the year, Giving Guppies volunteers:

  • Decorate Loaves & Fishes for the changing seasons and holidays

  • Organize and sort donated items

  • Set tables and prepare our dining area for guests

  • Paint lunch bags with colorful artwork and encouraging messages

  • Help wherever an extra set of hands is needed

In addition to their monthly service projects, Giving Guppies organizes two fundraisers each year—one in the spring and another in the fall—to help support the mission of Loaves & Fishes.

Beyond volunteering, the group is passionate about raising awareness throughout the community. They encourage friends, families, neighbors, and classmates to learn more about Loaves & Fishes and discover how everyone can play a part in helping those experiencing food insecurity and hardship.

Our Giving Guppies take pride in proving that you don't have to be an adult to make a meaningful difference. Through service, teamwork, and generosity, they're helping build a stronger, more caring community—one project at a time.
